Social Commentary & Bla bla bla...

I came across the coolest question in the web-o-sphere.

If you could go back in time a few years and give advice to your "younger self" what would you tell them?

If I could go back a few years and give advice to myself for when I was younger. I would say that "Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure..... As we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same."- Marianne Williamson

And referencing to that quote, I would also say "Poetry is your words of wisdom and the messages within them, is your job to get across!" - The older me.

Poetry is a great outlet for so many people. :)

I think I've figured it out. I would tell my younger self...

"Network like crazy. Go to every illustrator's conference you can find. They lied to you about the whole grade average thing. It don't mean crap. It's about who you know and when you know them."

"Stay away from gossipers, worry warts, nay sayers and professional fault finders. They will burden you with their junk."

"Just go ahead and get the Master's Degree NOW! No need to waste time so called FINDING YOURSELF.You don't have to find yourself, Jesus found you sometime ago remember?"

"You can't fix someone who doesn't want to be fixed. There are some people in the world who see their pain as their reason to exist."

"You need to write your little cousin even if you don't know what to say. At least she'll know that you're thinkin' about her."

"You know you're a weirdo for talking to yourself right?" - HUG

I would tell my younger self or them that Unconditional love " Agape love" is very very rare in this life. It is a gift from God. I would tell them that if you are blessed enough to find it: Please, keep it, cherish it, cultivate it and never ever let it go. For that kind of gift might come only once in your lifetime and you may not ever really obtain the full blessing and perfect will God wants for your life without it...... Denise Macey-Knuckles

Grace is expressed as easily as light is distributed in space.

True true. Love is something we have freely received from God therefore we must freely give it.

Too much to list. I find myself giving a lot of advice to my younger self ... she might catch up someday! :-) Accept more help. Be careful who you accept help from. Everyone is human, including you. If you want to help someone, you're going to have to let them help you. Get over yourself, there's no such thing as independence. Erase the word "should" from your vocabulary because it prevents you from doing what you "should" do. Take risks. Be happy where you are. Every place can be the most beautiful or ugliest place you've been. Practice. You're practice only improves when you practice. Practice. Don't run away from places or people, especially yourself. "If you understand, things are just as they are. If you don't understand, things are just as they are."

Of course, my younger self would also have some helpful advice for my older self, but I'll save that for a different day. :-)
