Dear Ghetto Print Author: I find your web site helpful, but I feel you are so negative at times. I think the video served it's purpose and you should do more videos so people can be educated about things. The Daily Times story did not tell the trut…

Hey Chesterboy,

I couldn't help but chime in so forgive me for being nosy about your conversation with Nicole. If there is anything that I appreciate most... it's the work that is done by community leaders when cameras aren't present or newspapers aren't grabbing quotes. I would like to say that I truly respect what Nicole does because if people only knew how involved she is in helping young people resolve problems they would think three hundred times before accusing her of not trying hard enough.

Over time I have become not so impressed with the various "social justice" groups that claim they are helping our youth in this city. What I have come to learn is that most of them are more so committed to receiving grant money rather than to receiving hell from the powers that be in this city for putting the children first.

I know first hand what it's like to work intimately with these factions only to have them punk out when they think they are gonna lose funding.

But then there are those people who are involved in the community because they know that true justice happens when no one is looking or giving them recognition. They also know that it's more important to be consistent in a few young people's lives than to be hit and miss in hundreds of young people's lives. So I must give props to Nicole and all of the invisible advocates like her. We need so many more of her that it ain't even funny.

Power to the invisible community organizer :)

Chesterboy,
I am not anger towards the councilwoman and I have tried to sit down and talk with her in the past and she did not respond and that is her choice. My work in not often seen, however, you can not image the work that I am involved with. I am not trying to knock anyone for the position that they take regarding anything, however, I need for you to know that it is the passion, ask Dr. Thorton when it comes to keeping a child alive, it may come out that way, but at the end of the day, those who know that I am a advocate and I have been one for over eighteen years and that is me. Councilwoman and I have done some great work together and i respect her. I do not always agree with her as she does not always agree with me. However, Chesterboy with the work that I do just know that I will always like you reach out to people if I feel that we have a disagreement, just like i did with you. I feel that you need to schedule a meeting with Dr. Thorton because some communication is not correct and i feel that you can do good work with him. I have alot of respect for you because you stood up for what you believe in as well as I and at the end we did not walk away as enemies and I thank you for giving me feedback about how it may come across , I will come down to the courts and just know that the Mothers are still working, However, just in another way. Also, know that 85% of my time is spent with helping children, just not in the tradition way. Ask any Superintendent of Schools, they know it is just for the love of children. Peace to you and if you would like to go a step further you set up the meeting with the Councilwoman and I will attend and you will not have a doubt in your mind that I am true to my word.

Thanks so much for the information. I wasn't aware of how disruptive things were in the Bennett. I had heard rumors about it but I had never witnessed it until this past Wednesday. I can't even imagine living in such a disruptive situation. We had serious problems with loitering and drug trafficking increasing in our neighborhood for about two summers but we organized and resisted the nonsense that was being bought into our streets. And when I say "we" I'm referring to my family and some of the awesome people from the Christian Coalition who came through our neighborhood every Saturday to pray on our corners for about a year and a half. Of course we had to be diligent with keeping the issue before the City Council because prayer and kindness can go but so far. My family also had a number of front lawn rallies against gun & drug violence. But we found our selves doing this alone because too many of our neighbors were too afraid to speak up. But over time it has slowed down so it looks like we may be having a quiet summer this year. But lets hope it actually works out that way.

Again thanks for your comments they have been very helpful.

I appreciate that you are interested in giving me facts about what has been going on between the city and the school district. It really helps but I need you to Please Please Please understand that I DID NOT make ANY comments about who was at the City's event. I know NOTHING about 100, 200 or 300 ANYTHING! I am NOT the person who said that. I didn't even know that the city did anything in response to my video until TODAY. I have no idea who went where on graduation night! I was actually in the Bennett on graduation night because a friend tipped me off and told me to take a look. So I went and saw the craziness on the Westend of the town for the FIRST TIME EVER so you are accusing me of making statements and comments that I DID NOT MAKE! I need you to understand that all of the scenarios you are throwing at me are being heard for the FIRST time. How can I talk about the Chester Housing Authority when I didn't know they had a problem in the Bennett homes area until this past WEDNESDAY. You have me CONFUSED with someone else. I don't know if I am making myself clear enough.

You wrote: "Again, your too smart to do that. You made the City take a look at a problem and respond. Progress does not happen over night. Don't lose your credibility by being petty like so many others. Again, there is more to the situation with Dr. Thornton trust me."

I am not the person who made those comments about the city! You facts are not straight. You are confusing me with someone else. I guess that's just the curse of digital communication.
